Janet E. Russell

President, Nephrology Specialists of Oklahoma | CKD Specialist | Home Dialysis Director

Dr. Russell has been a valued member of Nephrology Specialists of Oklahoma since 2010. In recognition of her leadership, dedication, and patient-centered approach, she was named President of Nephrology Specialists of Oklahoma in 2025. She currently provides expert kidney care at our Utica Office and serves as the Medical Director of multiple Dialysis and Home Dialysis programs.

Dr. Russell holds active hospital privileges at Hillcrest Medical Center, Hillcrest South, St. Francis Hospital, and Ascension St. John, where she manages a diverse population of patients with both acute and chronic kidney conditions.

With a strong professional focus on chronic kidney disease (CKD) management, Dr. Russell leads our CKD clinic initiative, helping patients better understand their condition and delay disease progression through education, personalized care plans, and early intervention. She is passionate about delivering comprehensive, high-quality care to individuals at all stages of kidney disease, with particular expertise in home dialysis therapies.

Originally from Enid, Oklahoma, Dr. Russell earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, followed by her medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. She completed her internal medicine residency at OU-Tulsa and went on to complete a nephrology fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Russell is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

As a respected leader and dedicated nephrologist, Dr. Russell continues to advance the mission of Nephrology Specialists of Oklahoma—improving kidney health outcomes through compassionate care, clinical excellence, and accessible services across the region.
