When to Refer:
Primary care physicians are integral part of a patient’s overall health, but there are certain instances a referral to specialized doctors is the best option.
The following are some of the common reasons you would need a referral to Nephrology Specialists of Oklahoma:

- All patients with calculated GFR < 60, declining estimated GFR, or elevated creatinine (kidney number).
- Presence of blood or protein on urine studies. Recurrent kidney stones.
- Incidental findings of polycystic kidney disease on CT, US or MRI
- Nephrotic Syndrome and Glomerulonephritis
- A patient expected to need dialysis.
- Patients who have a kidney transplant
